"For the Love of Oceans"
Youth 4 Oceans is a developing coalition of youth who believe they can make a difference and have a vision of a new generation of caring around the world. This vision will come from the understanding that all life is one and only when we care for all living beings, all nature, can all which live on this earth begin to experience peace and health. Youth 4 Oceans is the voice, hands, feet, heart and spirit of the community's youth who will continue to care. They will be left to deal with the atrocity caused by the present world view that would elevate man above the very life that sustains it, the beauty, the peace of symbiotic policy that will ensure life continues. As this coalition grows, this site will fill with articles, interviews, photos taken by young adults caring, and making an impact in their own environment, community and beyond. Youth who are doing something about ensuring their future world is a place they will be able to enjoy Nature's Glory, the very life needed for sustainability. This site will serve to be a voice and will also inform as articles reflecting policy in governments effecting Nature will be added. Our present focus will be in the Narragansett Bay area of Rhode Island where the Youth4Oceans corps headquarters is located as well as world policy in regards to whales, seals, turtles, and other endangered animals have there habitat. Our hope is that Youth4oceans Corps will spring up all over the USA. There is no building, no budget, only the desire to care and do. The Corps will work diligently with other Non Governmental Conservation Organizations already actively pursuing the above goals with attendance both in learning forums, petitions to representatives to governent and participation in events and rallies. Youth organized activities will add to the voice. Bike rallies, walk a thons, cleanup activities, through writing and speaking; the creative sky is the limit and our youth is the most creative energy on the earth.

A Diverse Unified Voice
A Diverse Unified Voice
The most astounding thing to hear at the Oceans Week conference In Washington DC, on the opening day of speakers, was the legislative representatives desperately asking the audience, Non gov't organizations, organizations representing the opinions of the people in America to create a voice... The representatives are working hard to create bills and policy that will protect our ocean and marine creatures, the coast for access by all, but when they go to the legislature, they have no power to wield...There are no calls, no letters, no emails, no people's voices crying... We Need To TAke Care Of The Ocean!!!!! Yes, nature preservation has a voice, though not loud enough, the land!! but not the sea... It is hard enough to get a commercial, money driven lobby fed busy people in congress to consider the future, the beauty and impact of wildlife, but the sea? Is she protected from this horendous assault? No way.. but the issues most concerning to the people, those voices that are screaming loudest for help...those are the ones who get policy, funding and support..."We need to hear (loudly) from diverse groups with a unified voice" states Eric Webster, Director of NOAA Legislative Affairs.Beyond this the legislative representatives emplore us that there is tremendous power at the state and local government level to deal with much of the real, 'at the source' issues facing the environment and wildlife today...
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.. THERE ARE EARS WAITING TO HEAR, THERE IS A PROCESS BY WHICH OUR CONCERNS, WHEN VOICED WILL EFFECT LAWS TO BE PASSED TO SUPPORT OCEAN PRESERVATION POLICY, MANAGEMENT OF ALL USING THE OCEAN, PROTECTION FOR THE VAST NUMBERS OF ENDANGERED SPECIES FROM FISH, TO WHALE, TO CORAL... TO PREVENT MORE SHRINKING OF THE ICE AND INCREASE IN THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS GLOBALWARMING IS ALREADY HAVING. HOW MANY MORE UNPRECIDENTED EVENTS..
Not only can we make that difference in Washington, but there are real effective changes that can be made on the state, local and personal level that will make a difference...We don't need to wait for a president to sign a law or an adult to tell us to create a difference. NO matter the policy made by the government, laws are only as good as those who do them... We can make great changes now...There will be educational information coming... thank you so much.. Thank you to Jay Miller, Vice Chair of the Sierra Club in Rhode Island and on the SC national marine Committee. (www.sierraclub.org)
